I've been lucky enough to supply the Mountain Bike World Cup and Trials competitions and also other some other UCI gigs but I actually  help sponsor another, very special world championship.

The Santa Cross World Championships are held each year within the grounds of Glengorm Castle on the Hebridean island of Mull.  

In the first half of December (before the serious business of loading their sleighs and checking their delivery lists begins) Santas congregate on Mull for a last hurrah .  At that time, mere mortals like us can ride beside them courtesy of the efforts of Scottish Cyclocross.

Please note, I provide the awards for this event free of charge in the purely selfish hope that more and better presents will make their way down my chimney.     

Oh, aye, the award.  A custom cut slate back with a recycled sprocket mounted on it and supported by the usual Sprocket Man spokey-dokey stand.  The special element in this one was a centre piece made from burnished cold cast iron.  It shows a santa hat accompanied by suitably festive lettering. 

The seasonal bunnet just had to have a splash of colour added by the inclusion of red enamel paint.  Colours such as this can be added to most designs.
